The data in this checklist represents the breeding bird fauna of Luxembourg in 2019, it was extracted from the publication: Lorgé P., C. Redel, E. Kirsch, K. Kieffer. Die Rote Liste der Brutvögel Luxemburgs. 2019 Centrale Ornithologique Luxembourg https://www.naturemwelt.lu/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Rote-Liste-pL-09-2019.pdf Abstract: The red list of breeding birds in Luxembourg is updated every five years, predominantly to identify species with populations at risk and that might become extinct. Based on the most accurate population numbers and trends and considering special risks that may affect individual species, the status of each species was reviewed in 2019 following the strict criteria fixed by the IUCN. The methodology applied is explained in detail, the new red list resulting from the exercise is presented and some species are discussed. 13 species are extinct as breeding birds in Luxembourg, 7 are critically endangered, 8 endangered, 11 species are classified as vulnerable and 24 are near threatened.

The data in this checklist resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 88 records.
